5 Dorm Room Workouts You Can Do in 20 Minutes

Between classes, homework, and a part-time job, finding an hour for the gym can feel impossible. The good news is that short workouts still count. The CDC recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, and a few 20-minute sessions in your room can get you a big part of the way there.

The 20-Minute Dorm Circuit

Do each exercise for 40 seconds, rest for 20 seconds, and repeat the full circuit three or four times.

  • Bodyweight squats to work your legs and glutes
  • Push-ups (on your knees or against your desk if needed)
  • Reverse lunges, alternating legs
  • Plank hold to build core strength
  • Jumping jacks or high knees to get your heart rate up

Tips to Stick With It

  • Schedule your workout like a class so it actually happens.
  • Work out with your roommate or a friend down the hall.
  • Keep a simple log in your notes app to track your progress.

Start with two or three sessions a week and build from there. Small, consistent workouts beat one huge workout you never repeat.
