Exercise That Fits Your Schedule

You do not need hours at the gym to stay fit in college.

The CDC recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, plus two days of muscle-strengthening exercise. For a student, that can be as simple as a brisk walk across campus, a few quick workouts in your dorm, and a game of pickup basketball with friends. Regular exercise also helps with focus, sleep, and stress during busy weeks.

Fitness Basics

Four Ways to Stay Active This Semester

01.

Walk Everywhere

Skip the shuttle when you can. Walking to class and taking the stairs adds thousands of steps to your day without taking extra time.

02.

Use the Campus Gym

Your student fees include access to campus recreation. At USC, the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center has weights, cardio machines, a pool, and group classes.

03.

Try Short Workouts

No time? A 20-minute circuit of squats, push-ups, lunges, and planks between study sessions still counts toward your weekly goal.

04.

Play With Friends

Intramural and club sports make exercise social. It is much easier to stay consistent when your teammates are counting on you.
