Take Care of Your Mind
College is exciting, but it can also be stressful, lonely, and overwhelming.
Classes, jobs, money, and being away from home can all build up over a semester. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your body. Good sleep, real connections with friends, and knowing when to ask for help can make a big difference in how you feel and how well you do in school.
Mental Health Basics
Four Ways to Protect Your Mental Health
01.
Prioritize Sleep
Aim for 7 to 9 hours a night. Keep a regular bedtime and put your phone away 30 minutes before you go to sleep.
02.
Manage Stress
Break big assignments into small steps, use a planner, and try deep breathing or a short walk when you start to feel overwhelmed.
03.
Stay Connected
Join a club, share meals with friends, or call family. Feeling connected is one of the best protections against stress and loneliness.
04.
Ask for Help
There is no shame in talking to someone. USC Counseling and Psychiatry supports students, and you can call or text 988 anytime for crisis support.
